How do I go about getting a place for my child?
In the first instance you should contact the Primary School Admissions Team at County Hall Durham.
You can find information about applying for school places on their website:
We are a mainly two-form entry school and currently we have 320 pupils on roll including Nursery. We aim to encourage as many of our nursery pupils as possible to move through our Early Years classes in order to ensure learning is a continuous and progressive process. We also welcome children from a variety of other early years settings who we find adapt very quickly to the routines of Reception. In Nursery your child can attend 5 mornings, 5 afternoons, all day Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday morning ,or Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday and Friday.
Children join our Reception Classes in September during the year of their fifth birthday. We are happy to take older children in at any time providing we have places available in the appropriate year group. Please contact school if you would like to take a look at our facilities, organisation etc. We have a thorough and carefully planned induction programme for new starters, details of which we include in our Early Years Brochure. We provide information for parents of children who are due to start school well in advance of September each year.
If you have a pre-school child, and you would like to come and look around the school please ring 0191 3780038 to make an appointment. It will be lovely to meet you. Parents will be notified in the following February as to the offer of a school place, which will be made by the LEA in accordance with their published Admissions Criteria. Parents have the right of appeal against any refusal of admission.
