Here at Brandon Primary School we are passionate about the arts and celebrate successes and achievement regularly.

GLEE Club at Brandon

Children in Years 5 and 6 are given opportunity to join the highly successful GLEE club. GLEE Club at Brandon was formed in 2015 by Mrs Gray and Mrs Purdy-Marr and the children have performed productions in school and within the local community. Most recently they have performed 'Scrooge' to a packed audience. GLEE Club are currently working on an adaptation of Snow White ready for the Summer Term. Members also enjoy an annual trip to the local theatre. Last year they were thrilled to visit the Sunderland Empire Theatre to watch the smash-hit Wicked. This inspired the young performers to apply some of the skills to their own acting and singing in the production of 'Little Red Riding Hood'. This year we will returning to the theatre again to watch the classic 'The Sound of Music'.

Artist of the month

The school runs regular art competitions with a theme every month. This competitions are well-supported by children and the ideas are creative and varied. This year we have had some amazing entries for 'Things we love' and our current competition 'Maths as art!' has already had the entries flooding in! Children are awarded a trophy and prizes for the winning entries.

Amazing Art

All classes are encouraged to update work on the Amazing Art wall outside of the school hall. Work is displayed and celebrated across the school.

Creative Week

The Summer Term plays host to our Creative Week. This is a full week dedicated to the celebration of all art forms. Art, dance, drama, music and other media are celebrated throughout the school culminating in a large art exhibition at the end of the week where parents and other adults are invited to view a selection of the work by the children. This is a popular event with staff, children and parents and was a resounding success in 2015.
