Welcome to Brandon Primary School Parent Group
The role of Parent Group is to work closely with teachers and parents to learn what will make our school environment a better one and to find ways to help make those improvements. We want to forge better relationships between parents, teachers and staff to improve our school community and enrich the educational and social experiences of students. The group is a focal point for parents to raise issues of concern to them, for example; dinner hall procedures, packed lunch policy, school communications, uniform guidelines etc. Any issue raised and discussed is done so in a constructive manner with both parents and teachers committed to reaching a mutual understanding and agreement.
Parent Group also arrange extra activities for the children such as film nights and discos and recently a carousel event which was themed around KS1's topic work of pirates. We have also held a litter picking and gardening event which was a great success so we will be holding a further two of these events in the coming months, watch out for details of "The Big Tidy Up".
Most of the money raised during these events will be used to help pay for the buses to take the children to the Christmas pantomime in December.
A number of Parent Group members have gone through training to be part of the Better Reading Partnership and go into school several times a week to help children with their reading. The volunteers find this a very rewarding experience as the children enjoy it so much and make great progress with their reading.
Parent Group meet every 4 weeks on a Tuesday morning 9 - 10.00 in the breakfast club room.
Parents / Aunties / Uncles / Grandparents are all welcome to attend these meetings at any time, we have a core committee which you can join or just come along when you want to. We are a friendly and informal group and you are welcome to bring pre-school children with you as we have a selection of toys they can play with during our meeting. We are also in need of volunteers to help us run after school activities and any time you can give would be appreciated.
If you would like any further information or can give some time to help please send your contact details to
school who will pass them on to Parent Group
