Each child from Reception to Year 6 will have their own personal organiser. This is a really important document for each child and we recommend that parents take some time to look at its contents, including the changes that we have made.
At the front of the organiser you will find lots of important information about school life, including our Home/School Agreement, our Internet agreement and our Uniform policy.
The Reading Comment pages will be the most commonly used part of the organiser for parents. This should be completed every week by hearing your child read regularly and filling in the relevant box, children are rewarded in school for getting their reading comments and also take part in a half termly draw to win books and bookmarks. Adults in school will also use the reading record to update you on the progress your child is making in reading and any areas to particularly work on at home. Please make sure this is completed every week for your child.
There continue to be a number of useful resources for learning within the organiser that the children will be using in school and these can also be used at home. These include times tables grids, number squares, maths facts, writing types, grammar information etc.
This year we have also included all of the spellings for each year group from the new National Curriculum. As you have read we are changing the way we teach spelling in school and so these may be useful for you to see exactly what children are expected to know by the end of each year group. Phonics sounds and action words are also included for younger children and it is really useful if children can practice these at home as much as possible.
It is vital that your child’s organiser is in school with them every day.
